For the past 10 weeks I have been sitting here every day asking myself that same question — why do we have this blog? Very few people read the blog and seldom does anybody comment (on top of that those who do usually have something negative to point out). We keep throwing content up here, and we will continue to come back with anything we can to help make your experience more enjoyable.
Then I wondered — exactly how many people are looking at the blog? I wondered how in the world am I going to figure that out. Well needless to say, Google Analytics and I have gotten very close over the last month or two. I now feel a little better knowing that people are at least clicking and reading the blog (at least based on the staying time). But still no one comments. Are we being too PC? Are we not taking a side on a particular topic? Or are we just not writing compelling blog entries. Unfortunately Google Analytics doesn’t help with this. I have sent the blog to friends and friends of friends and have gotten the basic response, “what do you want me to say?”
So now I get it, we are just not saying the right (or wrong) things. This is a philosophical issue, as well as a blog issue. We have not found our niche group yet, or a stream of topics (and positions) that will invoke a response. People read, but why would they comment. We are still working on that one, and promise to have it figured out in the near future.
This week was more for me than for you, but I need to ask one question, (of which I may or may not get answers to based on a theory I have.) If you did not have to join “The Loop” to comment on the blog would you comment more often? If you still don’t want to sign up but would like to comment please send me a yeah or nay to cwalton@baltimoreaircoil.com.
Thanks for listening, and I look forward to more interaction with everyone!
