I don’t know what the weather is like this morning in every other city in America, but at least here in Baltimore, when it is already 86° at 7.30am, we all know we had better prepare for a scorcher of a day! Keeping cool is paramount, but in today’s energy conscious society, it is important that keeping cool not come at a large and wasteful price.
What is BAC’s solution? Ice.
Don’t just put it in your glass, but use it to cool off your entire office building, all while saving money during peak hours. How? With BAC’s ICE CHILLER® Thermal Storage!
BAC’s ICE CHILLER® Thermal Storage technology starts with a large coil placed into a tank – a tank of just about any size or shape, and made of concrete or steel. Once in place, ice is built onto the coil by circulating a 25% solution of inhibited ethylene/propylene glycol at a temperature just above 22°F (-5.5°C). Ice building takes place at night when energy rates are at their lowest, saving money, and when demand on the energy grid is at its lowest, therefore utilizing the most efficient types of power generation.
BAC’s thermal storage installations are installed all over the world – utilized in malls, universities and schools, convention centers, sports arenas, district energy plants, data centers, and also in the world’s tallest buildings – Taipei 101 and Burj Khalifa.
Want to learn more? BAC’s ICE CHILLER® Thermal Storage was recently written up on the Cypress LTD website.
