Healthy Howard

In its inaugural year, the Healthy Howard Initiative and Healthy Workplaces in Howard County Maryland launched a program to recognize businesses for improving employee health and well-being in six key areas of work-site wellness:

• Culture of Wellness
• Physical Activity
• Mental Health
• Environmental Health
• Nutrition
• Safety

This accreditation program was developed from a review of evidence-based worksite wellness activities, guidelines from existing efforts by the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society as well as recommendations from the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and the Horizon Foundation.

For the 2009 program, Baltimore Aircoil Company received a Healthy Workplace silver medal.
